I am getting geared up to start the B&S challenge!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all getting excited for the upcoming B&S challenge! It is going to be a fantastic experience for all of us!

Allow me to introduce myself in more detail:

My name is Maria Ganim Schneider. I am a 35 year old married mother of two beautiful boys. I am currently in my 13th year of teaching Physical Education at a middle school in a suburb of Cleveland. I am also the middle school athletic director and high school gymnastics assistant coach. Since having my first child, I have been blessed to work part time in my school district. I live in the same town and street I grew up on. I am so thankful to have a beautiful home and two incomes.
My youth was based around sports. I was a gymnast for the first 18 years of my life, as well as a volleyball player through my teen years. Athletics was and still is my life. The only difference is that the focus has now been on my career and family, so taking time for myself has been put on the back burner. The purpose of me participating in this challenge is to motivate myself to live a healthier lifestyle. I "promote" it in my job as a teacher and mother, but do I live it myself? I am not looking to lose weight, but to tone up and most importantly find the energy I used to have as a teenager. If I had a choice right now between exercise and sleep, I would choose sleep. If I had a choice to go out for dinner with my husband or exercise - I would choose dinner. Exercise for me has not been a priority, nor making healthy meals for myself. I eat whatever is quick and easy. No time whatsoever is put into creating a meal. This is probably what I am most nervous about. I don't like being in the kitchen. I would rather go to a restaurant or fast food place. I don't want my children to learn from this example, therefore, I am "willing" myself to make a change.

I hope you are all as excited as I am to begin this lifestyle change!

Talk to you on the 5th!

Happy Cleansing -

Maria

Hi,

My name is amy and I live way out in the country a long distance from town so a bunch of us ladies have started an exercise club that starts next week at our community center in our little country town of 200. I wish everyone all the best in 2009 during our effort to get in shape.

Hi Maria:-)
My name is Linda Gail. I did the first B&S last year and have been trying to follow the guide lines I learned then, but due to new health problems I have had a large set back. I lost over 20lbs last year but since the summer I gained part of it back and am finding it very hard to lose is again. I hope that with the help of this new challenge I can once again lose the weight and feel better again. I also hope the with this challenge I can gain the self confidence to work with my limited mobility and still keep healthy.

Hi Maria, My name is Carol and i'm really escited to start what seems to be a fun and challenging way to get back to healthy me. I recently gained 30 pounds, but that was because I quit smoking. Not a bad exchange! But now it's time to get serious about getting the energy back and losing the weight.

Hi Maria...thank you for sharing your challenges. I am a crabby old bird that's almost twice your age, but as long as I'm above ground I'm going to try to get healthier. (My motto is: "Live long and aggravate"). The kitchen is my dread too - I am a lousy cook but, if I say so myself, I am an exceptional eater - maybe even a pro. May we both find some pleasure - in a good way - in the kitchen!

I am excited about the challenge but I am not 100% sure what to do.... I guess I will just do it 1 day at a time. Please give details as you go - I don't want to miss anything. My goals are weight loss (80 total), more energy, endurance and overall health.
Good luck to All!

Hi, I am excited and nervous about this challenge. I am looking for a grocery list so I can go to the store today for week 1. Anyone have a list of the things they can eat/drink?

I don't know much about it yet - I did see some ideas on the Detox Week 1: What to Eat. Try this link:

Let me know if you find out anything else.

Nice to meet you, Maria. My name is Lisa. I am excited about this challenge and am hoping it will get me on a better routine for healthy living. What suburb of Cleveland do you work in? I grew up in North Olmsted and lived there before we moved to Kansas in 2007.

I'm also really looking forward to this. Like you, Maria, my job involves health education (I am marketing and outreach manager at a wonderful natural foods food co-op), but I still need help living the lifestyle. I like the way the challenge is designed, with the connections between food, exercise, and stress.
