Questions Answered

Hello everyone!
I was so excited to see all the comments so far! I think all of us doing this together will help us all through this change in our lifestyle!
Many of my family and friends are asking the same questions as you are about what to buy, what to be ready for. They had sent me a "rough draft" a while ago, but nothing since.
All I can suggest is that starting tomorrow reduce your caffeine intake by 1/3rd. Start to think of goals you want to accomplish during the 5 weeks and write them down.

For example: By the end of the five weeks, I will make 5 dinners a week at home.
Make your goal measurable. If you say, by the end of 5 weeks I will cook more....it is not measurable b/c who is to say what you actually did prior to. Make sense?
The actual detox will start on Wednesday. My suggestion would be to buy vegetables, whole grain rice, legumes, oatmeal (not processed), lemons, hummus, raw almonds (unsalted). Those are some of the items I saw in the rough draft they sent me.
I hope this helps!
Happy Cleansing!

Maria

Maria, Thank you so much for being willing to blog your 35 days! I am so excited to read it and know that there are so many people going through the same stuff everyday. Going shopping tonight! A little nervous about reducing my coffee intake by a 1/3 but I know it will be so good for my body to do the detox and start out on the right foot! Good Luck!

I will be following you, and trying my best! I am heading to Trader Joe's to pick up some of their already cooked brown rice, to ease into it. I have been looking forward to this chance, though leery about life with less caffeine and sugar, my two addictions. But that is the whole point! Good luck!

I'm glad the day is finally here - i have been patiently waiting and trying to slowly get ready. I already went from four cups of coffee to two last week so today i can go from three to two without a headache! Here we go!

I am approaching this challenge like taking a class with homework and all! Cutting out the caffeine will be tough for me, but I look forward to the challenge!

Good luck everyone! On the media detox front, I am allowing myself to check my emails, this blog, and the body and soul website-thats it! I have purchased ginger/lemon tea to drink with meals, canned beans (pinto, black, canniloni, lentil), frozen veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach), frozen berries for my oatmeal, assorted fresh fruit (pears and apples mostly) and the almonds. I have the brown rice and oatmeal at home, as well at the ingredients for the homeade hummus. I am actually going to modify the challenge a bit, by eating this way for the entire week, instead of wednesday thru saturday. WIsh me luck!!!

I'm so excited to do this challenge!
I'm with Balletshoes, I started eating a modified cleans last week and am using a recipe from the American Heart Associated cookbook for the lentl (beans) addition to my diet. It's called spicy lentl curry. YUM! I'll be reading to gain support as the challenge goes on!

Is there a diet plan for the detox?

The diet plan is outlined generally in the What to Eat link, right? I haven't found anything more specific than that. Coming down with a cold today, so I hope the detox and rest will be helpful there as well. Also work project with lots of internet needs to be done, but I'm not doing any extra surfing. I'll load up on canned beans and frozen veggies, good ideas!

Thanks for doing the Challenge with us, Maria! If you and the other Challengers are curious about what you'll be eating during the detox, click on the "What to Eat" link--it's on Day 1 and in the second paragraph called "Get Organized." It's not a list, but it is the eating plan, so you can check it out for what you'll need. Good luck to all! Donna Coco, articles editor

this is for patty- i think they want you to ax the coffee altogether. tea = you can have green, black or ginger tea were the suggestions.
